Enter the colorful & magical world of Alcohol Inks! In this beginner workshop, you will learn a variety of techniques and tips with the guidance of mixed media artist, Laura McGann. Alcohol inks are quite versatile and in this class, you’ll be exposed to a variety of possible expressions. Finding your style has never been more fun! No artistic experience is needed — really!!

Please note: This course is for adults only (21+). Please also note that using alcohol inks is not advisable for pregnant women or those with serious respiratory issues. Please consult your physician if you have any concerns, The studio is well-ventilated for this level and time duration of isopropyl alcohol exposure.

What you’ll learn: You will learn five specific techniques and the different effects you can create by using these vibrant inks and how they interact together. You'll learn about the different application methods and substrates that can be used with alcohol ink to achieve gorgeous results.

What you’ll get: Demonstrations and hands-on experimentation with the inks on several substrates. Unlike other painting courses (where they may teach you to create one specific style of painting), you will leave this workshop with many pieces in your own style. These pieces may be experimental, or you may find your style preference soon and have a number of complete works ready for hanging. You will also leave this course with resources and inspiration to further develop your technique. The studio is fully stocked will all types of paper and ink colors ~ come to play!

What to Bring: Nothing is required. Feel free to bring snacks, beverages, chocolate-covered strawberries, jellybeans… whatever makes you happy. Inking & drinking (BYOB) is allowed, so long as you don’t drink the ink, or drink and drive. 

What to Wear: Alcohol inks can stain. You’ll be most comfortable in a painting smock, old clothes, yoga pants, sweatshirts, flip flops… come as you are. We’re a judgment-free zone. Medical gloves are provided if you would like to protect your hands from the inks.

When & Where: All workshops are held at the Grounded Place Studio (4th floor), inside the Holliston Mill, 24 Water Street, Holliston, MA 01746. Please note that due to the historic nature of the building, this facility is NOT handicap accessible. You will climb two sets of stairs to access GP Studios. You will climb two sets of stairs to reach our location on the top floor. You can park at the side or behind the building. The best door to use is at the back of the building, up a set of stairs adjacent to a loading dock.

WE LOVE GROUPS!  If you would like to book the studio and/or Laura for a private party, just send us an inquiry. Ink classes, vision boards, or other creative ideas you have found all work well for our space! Great for GNO, team experiences, baby or bridal showers, etc. 

Cancellation & Refund Policy: All classes are limited to 10, with a minimum of 4 to run. We do not issue refunds on workshop registrations. If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a credit to use toward any future event if you notify us at least 48 hours before the workshop. To cancel and request a credit, you must email us at groundedplace@gmail.com. Workshop credits are not redeemable for cash and cannot be applied to merchandise purchases. We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 48 hours advance notice.

In the event a class is canceled or rescheduled due to inclement weather, increases in local Covid cases, changes to local Covid guidance, positive Covid cases on our staff, or other Act of God, you will receive a credit to take another class at a later date.

Our workshops require a great deal of pre-planning, including ordering supplies and tools, all based on the number of students who register. When students ask to cancel or reschedule at the last minute, our finances suffer. As a small business, we are unable to absorb these costs and still keep our class prices low.  

In fairness to all of our customers, we are unable to make exceptions to our policy, including for reasons of illness, travel, or work hours. If you are unable to attend a workshop at the last minute, we suggest giving your spot to a friend! Thank you for understanding.
